Certifying Documents in the Cayman Islands¶
As a regulated bank, Tenet follows the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) guidance on document certification. CIMA’s Guidance Notes focus on preventing and detecting money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.
To avoid delays with your application, please ensure certifications meet the following requirements, and use the prescribed wording.
1. Who Can Certify?¶
A certifier must be an independent professional, such as a:
- Lawyer
- Accountant
- Actuary
- Notary Public
- Your registered office (if applicable – many can assist with certifying corporate documents)
- Others – Contact onboarding@tenet.ky to confirm suitability
If you have multiple documents to certify, you may use a “Certification Certificate” to certify more than one document.
2. What Should the Certification Contain?¶
- Date of certification
- Certifier's information- Signature
- Name
- Position
- Professional body registration/accreditation number
- Address
- Phone number
- Email Address
 
2.1 The Wording MUST Be as Follows:¶

3. Acceptable Proof of Address¶
3.1 Certified Copy of a Utility Bill¶
- Must have been issued in the last 3 months
Acceptable
- Electricity
- Water
- Gas
- Internet
- Phone (landline only)
- Cable TV
- Trash or Recycling Collection
- Property Tax Bill
- Home Contents or Renters' Insurance Policy
- Others – Contact onboarding@tenet.ky to confirm suitability
NOT acceptable:
- Credit Card Statement
- Bank Account Statement
- Mobile Bill
3.2 Certified Lease Agreement¶
- Must be unexpired.
- If the agreement is in the name of a spouse, then a copy of a marriage certificate is to be provided.
3.3 Reference Letter¶
- Must be written by a recognised professional, such as- Lawyer
- Accountant
- Notary
 
- The letter should confirm the applicant’s address based on direct knowledge or a recent visit.
